A Mondegreen is a term coined by the American writer Sylvia Wright who wrote an essay entitled "The Death of Lady Mondegreen" which was published in Harper's Magazine in November 1954. In the essay, Wright described how, as a young girl, she misheard the final line of the first stanza from the 17th century ballad "The Bonnie Earl O' Murray."
The Mondegreen section of this site contains misheard lyrics from Fairport Convention songs.
"Colemanfish" is an FC List variation of "Colemanballs" a term coined by Private Eye magazine to describe verbal gaffes perpetrated by (usually British) sports commentators. It is derived from the surname of the now retired BBC broadcaster David Coleman and the suffix -balls, as in "to balls up". The "Fish" suffix came about after a surge of dodgy fish jokes on the list sometime in the past.

All attachments are removed automatically from emails sent to the list.
If you have an interesting file then, by all means, let the rest of the list know about it and then, if they are interested send it by private, off-list email or, perhaps, make the file available on a web server somewhere.
If the file is interesting enough, it may even be possible to make the file part of this website.
